Who we are
Northwood Removals is the data controller for information you send through this website. Our contact address for data protection matters is hello@northwoodremovals.uk.
What we collect
When you get in touch we collect your name, phone number, email address, the addresses you give us, your preferred date if you have one, and whatever you write in the notes. If you email us or ring us, we hold a note of what was discussed.
The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA. Google receives technical information about the request in order to tell a person from an automated submission, subject to Google’s own privacy policy and terms.
We will not chase you
This one is a promise rather than a legal notice, and it matters on a site like this. Where you have enquired and not gone ahead, we do not follow up, we do not add you to a list, and we do not pass your details to anybody who will.
Enquiries that do not become work are deleted once they are plainly stale. If you would like yours deleted sooner, say so and we will do it.
Family, solicitors and other people helping
Where you tell us in writing that a son or daughter, a solicitor, an attorney acting under a power of attorney, a care manager or a neighbour is authorised to deal with us, we will work with them on the arrangements and copy you in if that is what you want.
We will not discuss your move with a family member who has not been named, and we will not take conflicting instructions from different people.
What we see in your house
A survey for a downsize involves somebody walking through every room of your home, including the private parts of it, and forming a picture of what you own. We treat that as confidential: it is discussed with our own crew as far as the job requires and with nobody else.
We take photographs only where they are needed for the job, and only with your agreement. They are held with the file, never published, never used in marketing, and deleted with the file.
Storage and clearance records
Where goods go into store we hold an inventory, which is a detailed list of what you own. It is held with the job, shared only with a storage facility where one is involved, and deleted when the account closes.
Where we clear items, we hold the waste transfer documentation for as long as the law requires us to.
Why we hold it
To survey, quote and carry out the work. That is our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry you started, and where you instruct us, performance of a contract with you.
Who else sees it
Our own staff and crew, and our hosting and email providers, who process it on our behalf under contract. We do not sell or pass your details to lead-generation companies, and we do not pass them to dealers, auction houses or house-clearance buyers.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@northwoodremovals.uk. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
